Proverbs8:10
Verſ. 10. Receive mine inſtruction, and not money] That is, Rather than mony, as, I will have mercy, and not ſacrifice, that is, rather than ſacrifice. Knowledge of the Scriptures is the greateſt riches, Col. 3.16. Let the word of Chriſt[illegible: 1 letter] dwell richly in you, 1 Cor. 1.5. The Corinthians were inriched in all knowledge. Plato gave three hundred flourens for a Book that hee liked.Called Sophron. Dionyſius ſaid, that Ariſtippus was alwayes craving mony of him; but Plato deſired nothing but Books. What ſpending of money, and laviſhing out of the bag is there for humane learning? And yet Ariſtotle himſelf could ſay, that a little knowledge, though but conjectural, about heavenly things, is to bee preferred above much knowledge, though certain, about inferiour things.
