Verſe 12. And he exerciſeth] The power of ſpeaking blaſphemies, of waging wars, of ruling over kindreds, tongues and Nations, &c. notwithſtanding his wounded head, which is after a ſort cured by the ſedulity and ſubtilty of the Jeſuites, and other the Popes emiſſaries.Forbes. The firſt beaſt (ſaith an Interpreter) is the Kingdom of Rome under the Pontificality: the ſecond beaſt is the Pontificality wonderfully quickning the wounded beaſt to that eſtate: both are one and the ſame except in conſideration, as I have ſaid.
