John Trapp on Zechariah 11:14

Verſe 14. Then I cut aſunder mine other ſtaffe, even Bands] Or, Binders: the the bond of unity, ſay ſome: by ſending a ſpirit of perverſities among them, ſuch as that was which made way for the ruine of Egypt, Eſay 19.14, 16, 17. But ſee for the ſence hereof what is noted on verſe 7. of this chapter. God ſeems to ſay, that he will now no more govern this people in mildneſſe and clemency: nor yet exerciſe his ſhepherdly ſeverity in ſaving corrections and viſitations, as formerly hee had done [illegible: 1 span]

This God [illegible: 1 span] to [illegible: 1 span] [illegible: 1 span] ſo that Ephraim ſhall be againſt Manaſſeh, [illegible: 1 span] [illegible: 1 span] and both againſt Judah, Not many, yeers hefore [illegible: 1 span] two brethren Hircanul and Ariſtobulus fell out about the [illegible: 1 span] prieſthood; and called in Pompey, who ſubdued the [illegible: 1 span] a province. And not many yeers after Chriſts [illegible: 1 span] utterly broke the brotherhood between [illegible: 1 span] them, that like thoſe prieſts in Ezra, they have [illegible: 1 span] not one another by their tribe, or family, nor [illegible: 1 span] of them that were in Spain, and are now [illegible: 1 span] they hold to be of the tribe of Judah: and the other [illegible: 1 span] of the tribe of Benjamin: who in honour of the more [illegible: 1 span] with them the better, do learn the Spaniſh tongue, which [illegible: 1 span]
