Question 61
Are all they saved who hear the gospel, and live in the church?
All that hear the gospel, and live in the visible church, are not saved; but they only who are true members of the church invisible.

John 12:38-4038This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet: “Lord, who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
39For this reason they were unable to believe. For again, Isaiah says:
40“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so that they cannot see with their eyes, and understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would heal them.”
